A total of 400 youths drawn from thirteen local government areas of Oyo Central Senatorial District have benefited from a 3-day training programme on mechanised agriculture organised by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari in conjunction with National Directorate Of Employment (NDE).
The training, which was held between 2nd December and 5th December 2020, was targeted at reducing unemployment rate, make the participants self-reliant and become employers of labour. The youths were trained at Kisi Town Hall – Irepo LGA, IPMAN Hall – Saki West LGA and Ipapo Town Hall – Itesiwaju LGA.
Aside N3000 daily transportation allowance, each trainee was given N20,000, knapsack sprayer, herbicides, seedlings, seed protector and certificate of participation.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training programme, the lawmaker’s Special Assistant on Political Matters, Hon. Adedeji Adeyemo, lauded Senator Buhari for facilitating impactful trainings, empowerment initiatives and projects.
In his words: “Oyo North Senatorial district is an agrarian zone. Hence, the facilitation of a series of agricultural trainings with a view to ensuring the zone fulfil its potential as food basket of the nation”.
“You could imagine the positive effects the training 400 youths on modern agricultural techniques. To crown it all, Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Oke Ogun, is awaiting presidential assent Senator Buhari is determined to bring Oke-ogun to a world map with the much-needed university”.
Adeyemo, who said that Senator Buhari is committed to better agricultural practice, added that participants should disseminate the knowledge acquired at the training to members in their various communities in order to achieve desired effect in improved agricultural practice.
