The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin has commended President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for including 52km Oyo-Ogbomoso Road as part of 21 federal roads to be constructed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The FEC’s approval to the NNPC is in line with Executive Order No. 007 of 2019 cited as the Companies Income Tax (Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme) Order, 2019 (“EO7 of 2019” or “the Scheme”) signed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nine of the roads are in the North Central; two each in NorthWest, North East and South South. The South East and South West have three roads each.
Folarin who gave the commendation in Abuja on Thursday, said the approval has shown that President Muhammadu is indeed committed to speedy completion of Oyo-Ogbomoso road and other ongoing road projects in the country.
Describing good road network as an important prerequisite for a buoyant economy, Senator Folarin admonished the contractor, Reynolds Construction Company (RCC), to ensure speedy completion of the road.
The Oyo Central senator noted that the work done so far on the road project was of high quality and could stand the test of time.
“I believe that the completion of Oyo-Ogbomoso highway will also encourage free flow of commercial activities in Oyo State” Folarin said.
