Senator AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari representing Oyo North Senatorial District in the upper Chamber in collaboration with the National Directorate Of Employment (NDE) are set to train and empower not less than four hundred (400) selected youths from across the thirteen (13) local government areas of the district in mechanized farming.
The 3-day agricultural training and empowerment, which commences on Thursday 4th December 2020, will be undertaken at three centres, namely Kisi Town Hall in Irepo LGA; IPMAN Hall Saki in Saki West LGA and Ipapo Town Hall – Itesiwaju LGA.
This paper reliably gathered that apart from daily transport allowances and feeding for the beneficiaries, the trainees will at the end of the 3-day training programme, be empowered with seedlings, herbicides, equipment, training allowances and certificate.
According to Senator Buhari, “Oyo North is an agrarian district which if well harnessed will serve as food basket for the state and Nigeria as a whole as well as increase the revenue base of the state and nation through import of agricultural products like, sorghum,millet, cashew, cassava,yam amongst others”.
He further stressed that the knowledge acquired by the beneficiaries at the end of the training, is expected to be used to increase their harvests which will in turn improve their living standard.
This paper understands that this latest agricultural training brings to total of 1200 constituents selected for a series of trainings and empowerment by the federal lawmaker in the last 30days.
