Barely 24 hours after five police officers and a police officer’s wife were killed in an attack on Idoro Ikpe Police Station in Ini LGA of Akwa Ibom on Saturday, Armed men suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, again on Sunday, razed Mkpatak Police Station in Essien Udim LGA, killing two police officers and twelve cows.
Competent sources also said that there is another attack on a police station in Abak LGA of the state.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that one of the officers was burnt inside his car while the other officer on a motorcycle was shot by the hoodlums.
The Public Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, while confirming the attacks noted that the Commissioner of Police, Andrew Amiengheme, has ordered the deployment of a tactical team to the affected areas. He added that the police are following the trend.
