A chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and member of Oyo State House of Assembly has reportedly led hoodlums to disrupt the ongoing membership registration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan Southeast Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The APC registration and revalidation of membership exercise fully kick off on Wednesday across the 33 LGAs of the State.
According to an eyewitness report, Hon. Segun Popoola representing Ibadan South East Constituency II mobilised heavily armed hoodlums to disrupt the APC registration at Units 25, 26 and 27 at Oju Odo academy, ward 10, in the council area.
The state lawmaker was quoted to have said he had backing of Oyo State Government.
Hon. Abiodun – member of APC told the News Carrier NG that the hoodlums were shooting sporadically to scare away hundreds of members of the opposition party who gathered to register and revalidate their membership.
“The APC members who had trooped out enmass to exercise their civic right have fled to avoid being lynched by dear devil hoodlums. Hon. Segun Popoola popularly called “Popson” was shouting on top of his voice that no registration would be allowed to take place anywhere near his father’s area” another source said.
All efforts to reach Hon. Popoola on phone as at the time of filing this report proved abortive.
