The Media Campaign Team of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in tomorrow’s bye-election has called on the people of Ibadan North federal constituency to categorically reject what it alleged as expired palliative, particularly rice, that is set to be distributed today across the 12 wards of the council area by agents of Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement made available to the press by the spokesperson of the APC Media, Publicity and Strategy Committee, Hon. Monsuru Adeyemo (Socrates), the party maintained that PDP and Makinde are in panic mode because of the suffering they have imposed on the good people of the federal constituency and the pacesetter state at large, “so they have no option but to resort to inducing voters.”
“Dear good people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency and our enlightened voters! We urge you to reject Gov. Makinde’s rice and his candidate tomorrow. As we all know, the palliative had been kept at home for more than two years. We wonder why the governor now decided to share it now. At least if they are going to do such, the rice especially should be subjected to screening to confirm eatability. To us in APC, the well-being of our federal constituency should never be compromised for political gain, but to PDP, everything goes, especially if it can bring votes.
“It is crystal clear that with his populist style and conservative approach, Engr. Makinde thinks everybody is buyable. He has reduced our esteemed constituents and highly respected voters to crumb seekers. This is so ridiculous, and we must collectively fight it.
“This is not only unhealthy for the body, but also it is dangerous for the health of our democratic process. It undermines the values of our integrous electorate and our democratisation,” APC said, maintaining that “the people deserve honest governance, not tactics that attempt to buy votes and force an incompetent representative on our electoral district.
“Every reality is observable and measurable. This desperation signals weakness. Of course, Gov. Makinde’s hurried distribution of these items reveals his fear over his party’s impending electoral defeat tomorrow. A true leader should earn votes through competence, acceptance, service and vision, not by resorting to questionable tactics,” APC stated.
“Our good people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency! Let’s stand against manipulation. Let’s reject these items. Let’s empower ourselves and our constituency. Let’s collectively wage war against manipulation and demand a future built on transparency and accountability,” the group encouraged.
While calling for free, fair and credible elections, APC stated, “Instead of expired rice, we advocate for sustainable solutions and progressive representation that genuinely support our citizens, not temporary fixes that harm our health, devalue our people and retard the progress of our constituency.
“Gov. Makinde knows his puppet is losing this election, which is why he has resorted to distributing expired rice in a last-ditch effort to induce and sway voters. Let us come together to reject his tactics and choose a candidate who prioritises our health and future. Make your voice heard—stand for integrity, health, and progress. Vote wisely tomorrow!” APC submitted.
