The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin has felicitated with Oyo State citizens particularly Christians as they celebrate Easter.

Folarin, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity – Com. YSO Olaniyi, urged christians to use the festive occasion to pray for unity, peace and prosperity of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

The three-term senator called on the christian faithful to rededicate themselves to the service of humanity in line with the true teachings of Jesus Christ, which emphasises tolerance, patience, brotherly kindness, care for the needy and love for one another.

According to him ”The lesson of Jesus death and resurrection as explained in the Holy Bible, is a demonstration of love and selflessness and as beneficiary of his undying love, we most extend same to our fellow humans.”

The statement further decried Governor Seyi Makinde’s sharp reduction in monthly subventions to all state-owned tertiary institutions. According to him, “reduction in monthly subventions to Oyo State-owned tertiary institutions is affecting payments of staff salaries and allowances”.

“Our tertiary institutions are in comatose. Apart from the irregular payment of workers’ salaries, all the state-owned tertiary institutions are battling with administrative bottlenecks created by Governor Makinde’s appointed Platinum Consultancy firm, dilapidated infrastructures, irregular promotion of staff as well as excesses of the Governing Council chairmen of the institutions” the statement concluded.
