The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has directed local government administrators in Oyo State to takeover the running motor parks, following the verdict of Oyo State High Court on Park Management System.

Makinde gave the directive during the quarterly media chat tagged “Meet the Governor” on Saturday. He admitted that the State government was wrong to have appointed park managers since it is within the jurisdiction of local government.

The News Carrier NG reported that the Oyo State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice M. A. Adegbola nullified the appointment of Park managers in the state. PMS was introduced by Governor Makinde -led administration following the proscription of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW)

Delivering judgement in the case filed by the chairman of union, Alhaji Abideen Olajide Ejiogbe, Justice Adegbola  described as illegal the collection of rates by the park managers appointed by the state government.

Governor Makinde while responding to question on the contentious issue said, “we want to accept court judgement and we have directed local governments to take over their work. This is the first time killings did not happen during the handover of garage from one authority or administration to the other. We will continue to work in that line and ensure peace”.
