A group, Ondo Redemption Front has cautioned politicians in Ondo State against destabilizing governance in the State.
The group called on the stakeholders to allow the rule of law to thrive in its full form for peace to continue to reign and creating the atmosphere for development and prosperity of the state at this volatile period of the country economy.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed on Friday by the group coordinators, Ayodeji Ologun and Mogbojuri Kayode, Urging the Acting Governor to purge himself of push and suggestions that may unsettle the state in any form.
The group explained that the Ondo State House of Assembly should stay clear of politicking and not allow itself to be used in the attempts to destabilize the reigning peace in the state in effects to rumors from some quarters as to illegal removal and impeachment of the acting Governor, to pave way for anyone that will serve their interest against the interests and peace of the state.
The statement reads in part; “It is a solemn moment for us, knowing that the supremacy of God rules in the affairs of men. He does with us as he wishes according to his grand plan.
“Also, the importance of responsibility compels this statement and the need to rejig the efficacy for which Ondo state is known for and rebuild the confidence of ourselves in the pride of governance that makes us who we are with pride, THE ONDO STATE PEOPLE so properly called.
“While we accept the supremacy of God on the health of the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu and we hold him accountable to humanity, we pray for the recovery of his excellency and pray to see him back at his desk to continue that for which he was the choice of the Ondo state people and the delight of the South western region of the Country.
“We hold high his principle of fearlessness and speaking truth to power while defending the integrity and safety of his people.
“While there have been arguments in the public space over the report of governance in the state, we note the constitutional fulfillment of proper handing over of the state leadership to the Deputy Governor while the Governor is away and the cooperation of the State house of Assembly with the Acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. This we commend not minding the political coloration some persons and groups have given to it.
“There is need for us to restrain ourselves from nullifying the good intentions of the government at this critical period in the history of our state while we encourage everyone to do its job as stipulated by the mandate they hold either as an elected official, an appointee of government or an elected representative.
“As a group, arising from a meeting of critical stakeholders, we hold the following positions on the state of affairs of Our dear state and this shall be followed up with further consultations and positions in the coming days and weeks.
“That while we pray for the quick recovery of the Governor of the state, all dues and honour due to the office of the Governor should be accorded the Acting Governor while the cabinet as constituted discharge their duties towards moving the state forward without ant developmental stride left unattended to.
“That the Ondo State House of Assembly stay clear of politicking and not allow itself to be used in the attempts to destabilize the reigning peace in the state in effects to rumors from some quarters as to illegal removal and impeachment of the acting Governor, to pave way for anyone that will serve their interest against the interests and peace of the state.
“That the Acting Governor refuse and restrict himself from actions that suggests desperation and undue lust for power while we await the full recovery of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, and his return to office. The Acting Governor must purge himself of push and suggestions that may unsettle the state in any form.
“All stakeholders must allow the rule of law to thrive in its full form for peace to continue to reign and creating the atmosphere for development and prosperity of the state at this volatile period of the country economy.
“The citizenry has a lot to deal with owing to transitional policies of the new Federal government and Ondo state people cannot afford to carry additional burden owing to political indiscretions of some ace.
“On all ends, we must avoid reducing governance and our collective interests for development in the state into domestic or family affairs which in itself run quite averse to what the sunshine state has over the years be known for.
“Finally, in all that we do, at this critical time, the Supremacy of the Law, should be our Watchword, ” the statement added.
