New entrant into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Mr Joseph Tegbe has asked to be kept out of the raging controversy over his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on the sidelines of the eighth Omituntun Ramadan lecture held in Ibadan, Tegbe said he was happy with his decision to defect to the PDP and would no more want his decision to be subject of brickbats and controversies that have trailed his decision.
According to the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, he downplayed notions that his defection was a blow to the APC, though he noted that there were lingering issues that need to be resolved in the APC.
He, however, prayed that his defection will trigger a resolution of the issues rocking the APC.
He said: “I am excited to have crossed over to PDP and I believe my movement will also trigger resolution of issues that are lingering in APC so that we can have a vibrant democratic system.
“I won’t say it is a blow to the APC. However, there is need to put one or two things in order within the APC. My sincere reaction and advice is that people should keep me out of controversy, keep Tegbe out of the controversy. Tegbe has made his move; sort out whatever needs to be sorted out.”
