A senatorial aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo South District, Dr. Olusola Ayandele has said that Ibadan, the Oyo state capital deserves a special recognition.
Ayandele who spoke on Wednesday in Ibadan, explained that this is necessary in order to upgrade the existing infrastructure in Ibadan and build new ones to make life more comfortable for the people of the city.
Ayandele said that the existing infrastructural facilities built during the pre and post independence eras in Ibadan, which served as seat of the defunct western region, have already been overwhelmed.
He said that the only solution to ensure that the infrastructural facilities in Ibadan meet the need of the people is for the federal government to give the ancient city a special recognition.
Ayandele while speaking during the inauguration of a support in support of his aspiration for Oyo South Senatorial District (ERUOBODO ’23 SUPPORT GROUP) ahead of the 2023 election, explained that for people of Ibadan to enjoy better social amenities in the ancient city, the federal government must accord a special recognition for the city.
He said that when accorded special recognition, there would be provision for the upgrade of the already overwhelmed facilities and development of new ones.
Ayandele, a successful business man and profound philanthropist stated that the senatorial district needs a capable, competent and exposed person with good understanding of governance like him to achieve this.
According to Ayandele, “Yes, Ibadan deserved special recognition. That is one of the things I will clamour for and by His grace achieve when I get to the Senate.
“Ibadan served as the capital of the whole of Western Nigeria up to Idi Oro in Lagos during the pre and post independent periods. They created Ondo, Ogun and Oyo states. Ekiti and Osun were created out of these states
“So, the social amenities here have remained the same since then. Therefore, there should be special recognition for the city in order to get the existing infrastructure there upgraded. That is what I am saying.
“And there must be a policy in place to achieve this which I am fully prepared to champion at the Senate.
Prominent chieftains of APC at the inauguration including Alhaji Sina Alabi, Honorable Ademola Ojo, Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan and Hon. Ramota Okemakinde commended Dr. Olusola Ayandele for bringing together top members of the party in different camps to form his support g roup maintaining that he has shown good leadership and competence to move the party forward.
They described Dr. Ayandele as a decent, organized and masses friendly politician perfect to represent Oyo South Senatorial District in the Red Chambers.
Honorables Sina Alabi, Ademola Ojo and Alhaji Olaosebikan advised the party to present credible candidates for the various positions without discrimination against anyone based on place of birth.
According to them, Oyo South Senatorial District deserved a competent hand like Ayandele based on his experience and antecedents.
“The party should present our best eleven at the National Assembly. We should not discriminate against people based on where they come from. We are supporting him because we know that he can deliver and better the lots of the Senatorial district.
