Oyo State Chapter of National Unions of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) under the leadership of Alhaji Abideen Abimbola Olajide (Ejiogbe) has debunked the news going viral on social media that the union is drumming support for governorship candidate of Accord, Chief Adebayo Adelabu of Accord.
The statement reads:
Since our Union was proscribed,we have distanced ourselves from politics and politicians,so therefore,we are using this medium to inform the general public and members of NURTW to disregard the news because is a false news and advice the bloggers to stop spreading the fake news to mislead people in society.
Truly,Chief Adebayo Adelabu of Accord Party invited us for a meeting and we honoured his invitation doesnt mean we have agreed to drum support for him,being a reputable Union in Oyo State,anybody can invite us for a meeting,even if Governor Seyi Makinde,Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin and etc invite us,we shall honour their invitations because we are friend to them not their enemy.
Furthermore, according to our Union constitution and Nigeria law We have right to support any politician and political party of our choice but now,not yet time to drum support for any politicians and any political party.
Please disregard the fake news spreading on social media that said we are drumming support for Chief Adelabu Adebayo.
