The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Monday staged a peaceful protest in Ibadan, accusing Governor Seyi Makinde of plunging the state into a worsening debt crisis through excessive borrowing.

The protesters, who converged at the party’s state secretariat in Oke-Ado before marching across major parts of the city, condemned the recent approval of a ₦300 billion loan by the State House of Assembly.

“Oyo State is already burdened by huge debts. This new ₦300bn loan will further mortgage our collective future,” the APC protesters declared.

The party also appealed to President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to ensure the safety of Hon. Shittu Ibrahim, the lawmaker representing Saki West/East constituency, who allegedly exposed the secret legislative session where the loan was approved.
