The leadership of the women wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state has described voters in the state as major contributors to the electoral victory of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu who emerged the President-elect after the conduct of the nation’s presidential election penultimate Saturday.
Oyo APC women, who rose from an emergency stakeholders meeting held at the Party’s state secretariat Oke-Ado Ibadan on Wednesday, attributed the emergence of Sen. Tinubu, as the winner at the keenly contested election, to divine intervention through the determination, doggedness and passion of most citizens who desire the best for their fatherland.
At the meeting presided over by the State Woman Leader, Alhaja Tinuade Adigun, participants indicated their readiness to improve on their mobilization drive with a view to garnering massive number of votes for the gubernatorial and House of Assembly candidates in this Saturday election.
According to Alh. Adigun; “we had had the premonition that the good people of Oyo state would vote massively for our party long before the day of the poll because we were well received in virtually all the places we visited for campaigns and mobilization. Many residents, especially women and youths, voluntarily joined our campaign trains in Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Ibarapa and Oke-Ogun while they encouraged us in no small measure.
“As a matter of fact, we must use every available opportunity to express our sense of gratitude to traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, students, artisans, market men and women, law enforcement agents among other patriotic citizens who played a good part in the success recorded by INEC at the February 25 poll. However, we must also warn some unscrupulous elements who are trying to arrogate the victory of Sen. Bola Tinubu to themselves to desist from such satanic plot or risk being exposed because we are already collating all records of their anti-party activities.
“Meanwhile, we want to appeal to the electorate in the state to act in the same manner they did on February 25 and cast their votes for the gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Sen. Teslim Folarin, and all the 32 House of Assembly candidates in this Saturday election as this would place Oyo state at the peak of advantage under Tinubu presidency. The Pacesetter state is too important to be in the opposition at a time we are having an ideal person as the President of Nigeria and we must must all be conscious of this fact.” Alhaja Adigun added.
Chieftains and leaders of the party who attended the meeting include; Hon. Tolulope Akande-Shadipe, Mrs. Kemi Jayeoba, Chief Mrs. Yinka Adebayo, Erelu Funke Olayanju, Mrs Taiwo Moteleola, Mrs Monisola Tegbe, Alhaja Kudirat Gbadamosi, Mrs Fatimah Hassan, Princess Adenike Adebowale and Mrs Abosede Adeyemo.
