Former senate leader, Senator Teslim Folarin has mourned the passing of Sarkin Sasa Sardaunan Yamma, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Katsina who passed on Saturday at age 125.
The statement reads in full;
“With profound sadness, I mourn the passing of a great monarch, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Katsina, Sarkin Sasa Sardaunan Yamma. As the Chairman of the Council of Arewa Traditional Rulers in the 17 Southern States of Nigeria, he played a pivotal role in promoting peace, stability, and progress in Oyo State and Southern Nigeria.
Alhaji Maiyasin was more than just a respected traditional leader; he was a great father, adviser, and supporter to many. I had the privilege of enjoying a very cordial relationship with him during his lifetime, and I can attest to his wisdom, kindness, and generosity.
Throughout his remarkable life, which spanned an impressive 125 years, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the well-being and development of his community. His leadership and vision inspired countless individuals, and his legacy will continue to be felt for generations to come.
As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary individual, I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Council of Arewa Traditional Rulers. May his memory continue to inspire us to work towards a more harmonious and prosperous society.
