Hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Oyo Federal Constituency, on Friday, stormed Molete State Secretariat of the party to protest against likely imposition of chairmanship and councillorship candidates by Governor Seyi Makinde ahead of the May 15 local government elections.
The protesting members said the moves to impose candidates negated democratic process that Governor Makinde and party leaders vow to uphold.
The News Carrier NG reported the 72hrs postponement of the party’s primary elections, which was earlier scheduled for Thursday (yesterday).
The protesters vowed to exit the ruling party if Governor Makinde goes ahead to impose some ‘unpopular candidates’ who are already serving as caretaker Chairmen.
Addressing the protesters, the State Chairman of the party – Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha while addressing the angry protesters, urged them to be peaceful and assured that their grievances would be looked into.
