Following the calls for resignation of Prince Uche Secondus some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the national chairman has said that he will not surrender his position.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Ike Abonyi, the PDP National Chairman said nothing, so far, warrants his resignation as National Chairman.
He said “those tiny minority calling for his resignation should come clean and tell party members across the country his offense why he should resign,” the statement added.
“He said he will remain focussed and committed to the ideals of the party which he swore to protect and defend upon his election to lead this great party 44 months ago.”
The calls for Secondus’ resignation came as PDP Governors met in Abuja on Monday to discuss recent events that threaten the unity and existence of the party.
The News Carrier NG reported that 7 members of NEC resigned from the party few days, although two later withdrew their resignation letters after a meeting of the Board of Trustees.
