BREAKING: Oyo APC Chairmanship Aspirants Now 6, As Oke-Ogun Leaders Disagree On Consensus Candidate. *Abu Absents

Following the Thursday directives of critical stakeholders of the Al Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, leaders of the party in Oke-Ogun Zone 1 have failed to agree on consensus chairman ahead of Saturday, October 30th 2021 state congress of the party.

The News Carrier NG reported how a meeting of Oyo APC stakeholders summoned by the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Akin Oke ended in deadlock.
The meeting failed to agree as all the leaders in attendance toed different paths ahead of the Saturday, October 30th State congress.

 

As a way out of the logjam, former Oyo State Head of Service, Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan moved a motion that Oke-Ogun Zone 1 APC leaders should be given time till 11:00am today to decide who to be Oke’s replacement among Hon.Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu (Itesiwaju LGA), Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi (Kajola LGA),  Engr. Yekeen Abolade (Iseyin LGA) and Hon. Dele Akinleye (Itesiwaju LGA).

 

A former deputy governor later disclosed that the meeting ended in fiasco after Mrs. Ogunesan moved the motion that APC leaders in Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency should be allowed to produce consensus candidate. If the leaders fail to produce a consensus, delegates will vote to elect next state executives of the party.
The News Carrier NG reports former deputy governor of Oyo State, Barr. Iyiola Oladokun, on Friday, convened an emergency meeting of party stalwarts in Oke-Ogun Zone 1, which comprises of Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa LGAs.
According to a former council chairman who attended the meeting one of the chairmanship aspirants, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi did not attend the crucial meeting. The reason for the boycott is not known as at the time of filing this report.
The former council boss further revealed that two aspirants from Iseyin LGA have joined the chairmanship race. The new entrants are Mr. Eyinade Musibawu Alobo and Dr. Bola Oyedepo.
The meeting, which was held at Bodija residence of the late former deputy governor, was deadlocked as none of the APC state chairmanship aspirants refused to step-down for one another.
Inside sources revealed to The News Carrier that party leaders from the zone failed to prevail on the six aspirants because of their clash of interests.
“All the leaders in attendance disagreed with the issue of consensus candidate for the party’s state chairman. They said that all the aspirants should go for elections on Saturday at Obafemi Awolowo. They want a contest among the aspirant so that the best can emerge,” a source said.
Friday’s morning meeting was the second the APC Oke-Ogun Zone 1 would hold to discuss the possibility of having a consensus candidate. The first meeting was held in Ilero House of zonal leader and chairmanship aspirant, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi.
