EXCLUSIVE: How Sacked Oyo ALGON Members Shared N1billion Part Payment

The News Carrier NG exclusively gathered that former executive chairmen are to collect N2.5 million each; vice chairmen are to get N1.5 million each; leaders of the houses are to get N1.3 million naira each and councillors are to receive N1.2 million each.

Also, Secretaries are to receive N90,000 each; supervisors are to receive N70,000 while the Chiefs of Staff are to receive N30,000 each from the N1 billion payment.

The News Carrier NG reports that the sacked ALGON members start to receive bank alerts as from Monday, 10th January 2022.

The News Carrier NG reported how Engr. Seyi Makinde approved the release of N1 billion out of N4.8 billion the state government is owing sacked council chairmen, vice-chairmen and councillors of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The approval is in compliance with the Supreme Court landmark judgement.

According to an internal memo dated, December 21, 2021 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, N1b was paid to the account of Ibadan North LGA for onward disbursement to the law firm of judgement creditors, which is Adeniyi Akntola and Co.

The News Carrier NG reported how the Supreme Court delivered judgment in favour of the Association of Local Gov­ernment of Nigeria (ALGON), elected by the administration of late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, saying Governor Seyi Makinde was wrong to have re­moved them.

In its judgement, the court noted that the tenures of the sacked Council chairmen and Councillors, under the lead­ership of Abass Aleshinloye, have expired but all outstand­ing salaries and allowances must be paid with immediate effect.

Rather than ask them to re­turn to their respective council areas, the court asked Makinde to pay all the council chairmen and councillors their salaries and allowances before August 2021.
