The Oyo State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Isaac Omodewu, yesterday, urged leaders and gladiators of the party in the state to come together and bury their grievances in honour of the late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Omodewu emphasised that party members must bury their differences to rescue the people of the state from the doldrums of bad governance and insecurity.

The APC chairman made the call during the Day of Tributes organised by the Oyo State Political Class for Alao-Akala at Jogor Centre, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

He said there was no winner or loser in the last state congress of the party.

Omodewu said: “Let us use the demise of our principal to resolve all our grievances. There is no winner or loser in the last APC state congress. Let’s keep the name given to Oyo State, which is Pacesetter. What is happening in our party is normal in politics. The best thing to do is to come together for the best interest of the state.

“We are all aware of insecurity and robberies happening in the state. This did not happen when we were there.

“To overcome this problem is to get back to power.”

We are going back to power in 2023. To achieve this, we must work together.”

Various personalities and leaders, who spoke at the programme, extolled Alao-Akala’s virtues.

They include Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Senator Fatai Buhari, Senator Kola Balogun, Prof. Taoreed Adedoja, Chief Niyi Akintola and others.

Olaopa, who was the Guest Speaker, said Alao-Akala exemplified an irreducible model for good leadership.

While Akintola said he (Alao-Akala) was the best in term of human relations compared with past and present governors of the state, Chief Wale Ohu, who was the chairman, planning committee of the event, described Alao-Akala as a political titan, a man of exceeding generosity and epitome of politics without bitterness.

He said: “He traversed different political platforms, a trajectory that subjected him relating with all prominent political actors in Oyo State and Nigeria at large, thereby creating an uncommon experience of a man with a large heart.

“Politicians shall come together to talk and ruminate on a subject matter that will improve the political class.”
