Today would have been His Excellency Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi’s 75th birthday, and we would have shared a laugh together. Though the pain of his exit 4 years ago remains, I choose to remember the man who was more than a cousin and great leader.

Akanji Omo Ajimobi Lo’ke Ibadan is fondly remembered for laying solid foundation for a modern Oyo State. His immeasurable contributions took Oyo State from nadir to the apex of good governance.

The late former governor’s legacies, companionship and sense of humor have never faded from the memories of the people.

Egbon was a courageous and forthright leader whose leadership is missing in the progressive party in Oyo State.

The late Ajimobi was a man with a good heart who cared so much about families, friends, followers and the downtrodden masses. He was not just a visionary leader but also a beacon of hope who inspired many, and never seized to be an inspiration to all, even in death.

Happy 75th posthumous birthday anniversary to a man who lived an incredible life and also left behind a good family, supportive friends and religiously loyal disciples.

Akanji’s spirit lives on in every heart he touched, and all his governmental policies and projects.

May Almighty Allah Grant him Al-Janatul Firdaus. [Amin]
