State Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are meeting in Abuja today as uncertainty surrounds March 12 zonal congresses of the party.
Though agenda of the meeting is unclear as at the time of filing this report, the News Carrier NG reliably gathered that the state chairmen are worried over the feasibility of Saturday zonal congresses of the party as there APC CECPC is yet to sell nomination forms for the exercises.
The News Carrier NG reports that the deadline for the sale of forms ended on March 3rd with no further directive from the National Secretariat of the party.
Sources within the party disclosed to our Abuja correspondent that an adjustment to the timetable is inevitable.
Many aspirants who spoke with our correspondents lamented that they were in the dark with no clue on when and where the sale of the forms will begin barely 6 days to the zonal congresses as the zonal meeting of stakeholders did not hold in some zones last Saturday.
Meanwhile, former deputy national publicity secretary of the party, Mr. Yekini Nabena, has told the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, to call off his plans to convene a National Executive Committee meeting of the party without the approval of Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
In a statement he signed late Sunday, the party chieftain described Bello as an ordinary member of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and not the Chairman or Secretary.
