The crisis rocking Oyo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got messier on Wednesday as masked gunmen suspected to be Mukaila Auxiliary-led Park managers attacked the newly opened parallel office of the factional PDP Stakeholders Group.
The News Carrier NG was reliably informed that about forty heavily armed thugs wearing masks stormed the parallel party secretariat situated at No 2 Okunola Abass Street, Bodija estate, Ibadan, to launch attacks.
The News Carrier NG confirmed that vehicles and other properties were vandalised. Eyewitnesses informed this newspaper that offices in the Secretariat were burgled and valuables worth millions of naira were looted by the attackers.
Reacting to the invasion, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan who is a factional leader of the party strongly condemned the attack, saying Alhaji Mukaila Auxiliary would not have acted alone without Governor Seyi Makinde’s directives.
“Mask or no mask, we know how Mukaila Auxiliary and his Park managers terrorise the people of Oyo State. We don’t need a soothsayer to tell us that the invasion was orchestrated by Governor Makinde. Our members escaped being killed as Auxiliary and his men baptised the Secretariat with gunfire”.
The PDP Chieftain informed the News Carrier NG that the the invasion has been reported to the Nigeria Police for necessary actions.
“We are peace-loving PDP members. Setting up our own Secretariat is normal in a democratic setting. Therefore, we will not engage in brigandage with the violent PDP faction loyal to the governor” he said.
