Mr. Muhammad Umar Jega, a federal lawmaker from Kebbi Gwandu/Aliero/Jega constituency of Kebbi state at constituency project cannot be traced to any location.

A visit by Tracka to the community revealed that the project appears to be a ghost as it could not be traced to any location.

Jega had in 2017, nominated N41 million as a constituency project. And in the deal, he said the money will be used for Youth Development Centre in Jega community.

Worse still, the deal has turned out to be a scam as no such centre was found in Jega community, Tracka visit has shown.

Mr. Emmanuel Yaro, a Tracka official in Kebbi state says there is no such project in Jega as claimed by the Lawmaker.

Another community resident, Mr. Dalhatu, said residents have since become very angry over the Lawmaker inability to execute the project he nominated on their behalf.

Community residents do not know such project was nominated to be implemented in their community, Mr Yaro, a community resident disclosed.

Another community resident, Awalu Jega, who is a Lawyer, said the non location of the project is another example of how politicians divert monies meant for community development.

Jega is not the only offender, often Lawmakers hide under constituency project cover in collaboration with the Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs) to nominate projects that will never be executed.

And in cases where projects are executed, the contracts are often inflated and projects poorly executed.

When Tracka sought Umar explanation using the Freedom of Information, the Lawmaker refused to respond.

Mr. Uadamen Ilevbaoje, Tracka Team Lead narrated how the Lawmaker refused to provide answers regarding the project status.

MAWA Foundation efforts to speak to Umar was unsuccessful, as his phone number could not be reached.
