Senator representing Oyo Central senatorial district in the National Assembly and 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Teslim Folarin, has commissioned fully-furnished 36 blocks of classrooms with 20 toilet rooms, solar-powered boreholes and solar lights at Elekuro Junior and Senior Secondary Schools at Abonde in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of the state.
The three-term senator also handed over another four ICT Centres to beneficiary secondary schools, which included Ilora Baptist High School, Ilora (Afijio LGA); Ladigbolu Grammar School (Oyo West LGA); Sasa Community High School, Sasa (Akinyele LGA); and Community High School, Isebo (Egbeda LGA) of Oyo Central.
The centres are equipped with Micano generators, projectors, printers, photocopy machines, inverter batteries and internet subscriptions for a year among others.
While handing over the facilities last week, Folarin said that he was passionate and committed to providing a serene environment for students to acquire sound education in their pursuit for academic excellence and research for information and, by extension, improve teaching methods.
Folarin disclosed that he had facilitated 17 ICT Centres and 88 fully-furnished classrooms across the public schools in his district, plus MacArthur ICT and Communication Centre, University of Ibadan within three years.
He, therefore, urged the beneficiary school managements to maintain the facilities, and look for ways to sustain them.
The leading governorship candidate in Oyo State stated that his administration would be highly committed to qualitative education for all, not quantitative education, without substance.
The Chairman of Abonde Community, Elder Taiwo Ojediran, applauded Senator Folarin for his qualitative representation and for facilitating masses-oriented projects to the Senatorial District.
“Senator Folarin has repeatedly proven himself as an education-friendly lawmaker. We are also appealing to the good people of Oyo State to vote massively for him,” Ojediran said.
In his remarks, the Principal, Community Grammar School Sasa in Akinyele Local Government, Mrs Fafioye Folakemi, who was represented by Mr. O.J Olalere, thanked Senator Folarin for his gesture, pledging to maximize the centre for its purpose.
