The newly inducted Fellow of the Nigeria Society of Ennhineeer and Global President of the. LAUTECH ALUMNI ASSOCIATIOMN WORLDWIDE, Hon. Engineer Olalekan AbdulReahman Badmmus (Executive Direcxctor, Marine and Operations, Nigeria Ports Authority) in consonance with his constitutional role to ensure that the Annual Alumni Public Lectture is organised. He paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister for Education Prof. Tahir Mamman on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja. With him on the courtesy visit is the 2024 Chairman, ANNUAL ALUMNI Public Lecture, Prof. Rèmí Awórèmí (Head, Department of TRANSPORT MANNAGEMENT, LAUTECH.)
While addressing the Honourable Minister, Hon ‘Lekan Badmus eulogizes Prof. Tahir Mamman on the stability being enjoyed in the Nigeria University System ever since his assumption of office as the Minister of Education in Nigeria. He further commended the recently appointment, Constitution and inauguration of members and Chairmen of Federal Universities in the country. He noted that this move will help make the Nigeria Universities to be more prepared to compete effectively well with their counterparts in other nations in the world. The former Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Intergration in Osun State who is a member of the Governing Council, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso commended the Visitor to the University Governor Seyi Makinde for keying into the vision of President Bola Tinubu on Education. He appreciated the regular payment of staff salary which has enhance the stability being enjoyed in LAUTECH. In relating the purpose of the visitation of the LAUTECH ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, the Global President says the visit is to invite the Honourable Minister to the Annual Alumni Public Lecture being proposed for Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
In his response, Prof. Tahir Mamman appreciated the visit and the encommium on the works being done by his ministry. He gave God all the glory for the opportunity given to him. He appreciated President Bola Tinubu for giving him the opportunity to serve Nigerians in that capacity. He acknowledged the invitation and informed that he will get back to the association after cross checking his schedule within the said period. He promised to be physically present for the Annual Alumni Public Lecture if his schedule is free for the period. He noted that LAUTECH is a University that stands out among it peers. He further commended the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, for his love he has for Education which had shown in the stability the University is experiencing. He concluded by appealing to the LAUTECH Alumni ASSOCIATION,Worldwide to give a little time to communicate back to the Association.
