Oyo College Workers Lament Non-payment of Promotion Arrears; Withdrawal of Promotion Letters

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED Oyo) has embarked on 7-day industrial action over non-payment of nine years promotional arrears, withdrawal of promotion letters, non-payment of annual increment and other welfare-related matters.

The NASU EACOED, in a letter signed by its Chairman – Mr. Adeshina Adetunji and addressed to Chairman Governing Council, lamented non-challant attitude of the College Management as regards the numerous union agitations, which include non-Payment of 9years promotions Arrears; Non-Payment of Annual Increment; non-inclusive of non- teaching staff in the constitution of governing council; withdrawal of 2018 promotions letters issue to the beneficiaries; non-defrayment of drivers non-accidents bonuses and overtime; and among others.

The union, on Monday, embarked on 7-day warning strike until all its agitations are addressed by the management of the institution.

The letter reads:

CONGRESS RESOLUTIONS

At the Emergency Congress of the Union held on 01 February, 2021 members extensively deliberated on the Non-Challant attitude of the College Management as regards the numerous Union Agitations as Under-listed.

Agitations Are:
 Non-Payment of promotions Arrears such as 2009, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.
 Non-Payment of Annual Increment
 Non-Inclusive of Non- Teaching Staff in the Constitution of Governing Council
 Withdrawal of 2018 promotions letters issue to the Beneficiaries
 Non-defrayment of Drivers Non-Accidents Bonuses and Overtime. 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020.
 Issue of Stagnations of PAR’s
 Congress Decisions of Nov. 3, 2020
 Reminder letter Dec. 14 2020.

In view of the above, it is unanimously agreed thus:
• That the entire NASU members should proceed on Seven (7) working days warning strike
• That the Seven (7) days warning, 01 February, 2021 therefore advised to pay a lot attention to all the Union’s agitations

Furthermore Sir, if your honour will Flashback that NASU National Headquarters also wrote on all this aforementioned agitations of our members after the branch reported to the headquarters, the letter was equally not attending to. By this 7 days warning strike I wish to state that if all agitations as indicated above are not met the 7days strike shall be reviewed and further action shall follow.
