As arrangements are being put together by various political parties and the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) for the conduct of the much awaited local government elections slated for May 15, 2021, many aspirants have besieged the State party office of the Peoples Democratic Party located at Molete, Ibadan with a view to obtaining the expression of interest and nomination forms for chairmanship and councillorship positions.

Among the aspirants that had obtained the expression of interest and nomination form was a PDP stalwart and former Lawmaker in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abioye Mathew Adegboyega who visited the party office yesterday with his supporters to vie for the Chairman of Ogo Oluwa Local Government area, located in Ajaawa.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after obtaining his nomination and expression of interest forms, the ex-Lawmaker who represented Ogo Oluwa/Surulere State Constituency between 2007 and 2015, Hon. Abioye stated that he joined the race for the chairmanship position so as to bring the desirable development to the council just as he had done while serving as State Lawmaker in the past.

Speaking on the slogan of his campaign tagged ‘Divine Journey, Hon. Abioye popularly called ‘Elder’ said that as a politician with vast experience in grassroots politics, he was ready to bring his wealth of experience to bear to focus on road network, employment, community development, primary health care development, rural electrification, provision of water among others.

He added that his administration will also operate an open door policy and projects that will serve as a replica of what Governor Seyi Makinde is currently doing in the State to put smiles on the faces of the people in his local government if eventually emerged as the winner during the local government election.

While appreciating the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for allowing the internal democracy and level playing ground for all aspirants vying for the PDP’s tickets, Hon. Abioye, however, solicited the support of the people in his council area to emerge as the winner during the election.

It would be recalled that Hon. Abioye Mathew Adegboyega was the candidate of the PDP for Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Federal constituency during the 2019 general elections.
