The Joint Action Forum of Non-academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated institutions have rejected a memorandum of understanding on new national minimum wage, which was signed between Oyo State Government and the Joint Action Committee of Oyo State tertiary institutions

Recall that the forum had passed a vote of no confidence on the leadership of the Joint Action Committee of the six state tertiary institution that negotiated the new minimum wage with the Oyo State Commissioner for Education on 22nd  December 2020. The forum noted that the Committee has no locus standi to do so on  behalf of the statutory Unions.

The Unions rejected the Oyo State’s packaged new minimum wage through a statement signed by Secretary of NASU JAF – Comrade Oyeniji Oyewale after a meeting of the leadership of the Unions from The Polytechnic, Ibadan; Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa; Emmanuel Alayande college of Education, Oyo; The Oke-ogun Polytechnic, Saki; Oyo State College of Agriculture, Igboora and Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate.

According to the unions, the MOU signed on Wednesday 13th January,2021 is not binding, wrongful, spiteful and unlawful. They urged Governor Seyi Makinde to quickly intervene and correct the anomalies to avoid industrial crisis in the six institutions.

On Friday Reject the MOU signed between the Oyo State Government and JAC.
Our attention has been drawn to the Purported MOU signed between Oyo State Government and JAC on the minimum wage, despite the fact that NASU had raised fundamental observation on the manner at which the negotiation was made and informed the Commissioner for Education officially on 31st December,2020.

The MOU signed on Wednesday 13th January,2021 is not BINDING, WRONGFUL, SPITEFUL and UNLAWFUL.

We urged Oyo State Government led by Engr’ Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde to quickly intervene on this matter and correct the anomalies to avoid industrial crisis in the six institutions.

Signed

Com’ Oyeniji Oyewale. T
