Say: O Allah ! Possessor of the kingdom, You give the kingdom to whom You will and You take the kingdom from whom You will, and You ensue with honour whom You will, and You humiliate whom You will. In Your Hand is the good. Verily, You are Able to do all things. (Q3: 26). Indeed, for fifty (50) years now, Bashorun Abdullahi Adekunle Oladeji has been enjoying the grace of God which undoubtedly has kept him going in the mucky water of life. No wonder, God Almighty has shown him mercy.

An accomplished businessman, oil marketer, politician, administrator, patriot and public servant, Bashorun Alh. Abdullahi Adekunle Eyitayo Oladeji owes his birth of January 22, 1973 to his parents, Alhaji (Chief) Bello Adeleke Onaolapo Oladeji and Alhaja Sulat Mojisola Oladeji (nee Adesina) who never spared the rod to, so to say, spoil the boy, even up till now as responsible parents. His father, popularly called BAO is an accomplished and renowned Secondary School Principal in Oyo State. He was formerly the Chairman, Oyo South Senatorial District and Vice Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Oyo State while his mother, is a businesswoman of repute and a retired civil servant. He is from Opoyeosa/Oba Ido district, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Bashorun Adekunle Oladeji popularly known as Omo Bao started his journey in education in 1977 at Oritamefa Baptist Nursery & Primary School, Ibadan and finished his primary education in 1985. He commenced and successfully completed his secondary education at Government College, Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State in 1991 and later had a stint at Holy Trinity Grammar School, Old Ife-Road, Ibadan between 1992-1993. He later obtained a Diploma in Computer Operations at Kaylinks Computer and Technology, Ibadan in 1995. In his quest for a university degree, he proceeded to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso between 1995-2001 where he bagged a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Chemical Engineering (Second Class Honours Lower Division) in 2001. He observed the one-year mandatory NYSC programme in Lagos State between January, 2002 and January, 2003 when he served as a Marketing Executive at Lenoil Petroleum & Petrochemical Nigeria Ltd., Isolo, Lagos.

His constant journey to self-actualization set him on a path to knowledge acquisition which led him to set up Kaylinks Computer and Technology in 2001 as a Data Maintenance Officer.

His belief in the oil marketing business veered him after the NYSC experience to start his own private business with an establishment of Kastron Oil and Gas Marketing Company Ltd. in 2003. The company which has branches in some states equally has filling stations in Ibadan and deal with supply and distribution of petroleum products and haulaging. He is an Executive Director, Kam-Fil Oil and Marketing Company Ltd, Lagos and Chairman, Camylon Multiglobal Concept which engages in the supply and distribution of Agricultural products.

The saying that one cannot give what one does not have greatly impacted Omo Bao’s interest and involvement in politics. As a grassroot politician and having followed the footsteps of his father in mainstream progressive politics, Kastron as he is fondly called has carved a niche for himself in the politics of Ibadan North Local Government and by extension Oyo State. He was massively elected as the Pioneer Chairman, Aare Latoosa LCDA under the All Progressive Congress of Nigeria and served meritoriously with remarkable giant strides recorded.

A philanthropist of note, a non-discriminatory and a non-partisan giver, Bashorun Alh. Adekunle Oladeji is a Professional Member, Nigeria Society of Engineers; Associate Member, Nigeria Institute of Economics; Member, Ibadan Progressive Union (IPU) and Member, Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA).

His versatility and dedication to his craft have enabled him to continuously thrive in his quest for professional excellence as well as service to the Almighty and humanity. His passion for excellence excels him in any disposition he finds himself either in public or private service, in addition to community service where he has been opportuned to play some enviable leadership roles to the satisfaction of his mentors.

Our man, ladies and gentlemen, is happily married to his delectable heartrob, Alhaja Rolake Oladeji and the union is blessed with upwardly mobile children.

Today, we celebrate a politician of repute, an oil marketer and businessman, administrator, family man, community leader and Immediate Past Chairman, Aare Latoosa LCDA, Bashorun Abdullahi Adekunle Eyitayo Oladeji (OmoBao) as he attains the golden age. We pray for longevity in sound health and wellness for you as you journey on in life Insha Allah.

Congratulations and a happy golden jubilee, Omo Bao.

Wale Adeoye served as a former Head of Administration, Kastron Oil and Gas Marketing Company Ltd (2008-2011)
