The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District has again appealed to members of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner before, during and after today’s ward congresses in the 351 electoral wards of Oyo State.
The Oyo Central senator, in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists on Friday, noted that it is a natural rule that in every contest, there must be a winner. “In this regard, I appeal to all the contestants across the 351 Wards of the 33 Local Government Councils of our dear State, to maintain the love and interest of our great party within their hearts before, during and after the exercise”
The statement reads in full:
A PASSIONATE APPEAL TO MY FELLOW APC MEMBERS ON THE CONDUCT OF THE WARD CONGRESSES SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, 31st JULY 2021.
As our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its Ward Congresses across the country on Saturday, July 31, 2021, I want to use this medium to personally appeal to our party members across Oyo State to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and go into the exercise as a united house.
I urge our party men and women to follow the approved schedule of activities and guidelines laid down by members of the Ward Congress Committee, as appointed by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the party, under the leadership of Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, Executive Governor of Yobe State.
It is a natural rule that in every contest, there must be a winner. In this regard, I appeal to all the contestants across the 351 Wards of the 33 Local Government Councils of our dear State, to maintain the love and interest of our great party within their hearts before, during and after the exercise.
The outcome of this exercise will determine to a large extent, the unity of our party both at the state and national level. It is in this vein that I urge our party members who may feel aggrieved or unsatisfied by the conduct of the ward congresses to remain calm and refrain from self help. Our party is guided by a tested constitution with provisions for addressing grievances. I assure you that complaints emanating from the exercise, if any, will be resolved justly and amicably.
Our party has set up a Congress Appeal Committee to consider complaints from members in order to ensure that equity, fairness and justice prevails in the election of party officials that would superintend it’s affairs at the Ward level.
Signed:
Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin
Oyo Central Senatorial District.
