APC Chieftain, Adegoke Mourns Alao-Akala, Says He Lived  For Welfarism Of  Common Man

All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke has condoled with the family of former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, the Ogbomoso people, Oyo State government and the state as a whole over the sudden death of the former Governor.

Alao-Akala passed on early hour of Wednesday in his Ogbomoso country home at the age of 71.

While paying tribute to the late former governor, Adegoke described  his influence and contributions to Oyo State and Nigeria’s democracy as indelible.

Adegoke, who is the Bada Balogun of Ibadanland noted that the sacrifices of late Alao-Akala, who started taking up leadership responsibilities at an early age,  started his political career as a member of the New Dimension.

Adegoke said he participated in the zero-party local government elections of 1996 and also participated in the Ogbomoso Federal Constituency 1 primary elections of the UNCP in 1997. He later contested and won the chairmanship seat of the Ogbomoso North Local Government along with seven councilors under the platform of APP in 1998.

Adegoke maintained that his political prowess made him to be elected Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government from 1999 to 2002 as well as the vice-chairman of ALGON, Oyo State Chapter between 1999 and 2002.

According to Bada Balogun, “I am joining family, friends and political associates in mourning the loss of a political leader, believing that his legacies would be approximated for posterity.

“Alao-Akala lived for the welfare and security of the common man. His passion about a better and safer society was exceptional. His steadfastness, commitment to the cause of one Nigeria and optimistic spirit towards national development will continue to inspire us both now and in the future.

“Late Alao-Akala was a political enigma, his vibrancy and dynamism had earned him many laurels in political circuit.

“He would be sorely missed in view of his giant political strides and contributions to the building of this nascent political dispensation.

“Otunba Alao-Akala was a special breed, who contributed immensely to the development of Ogbomoso, Oyo State and the country as a whole. He was such a great patriot, who had contributed his own quota to the development of Oyo State”.
