Former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu has clarified his earlier statement on recruitment of youths into Nigerian Army, saying he meant 50,000 youths be drafted into the Nigerian army, not the 50 million he had earlier.

The APC leader said in a statement on Tuesday that his earlier demand for the recruitment of 50 million soldiers was an “accidental verbal mistake.”

“Asiwaju seeks the expansion of security personnel by 50,000 for the armed forces not the N50 million that was mentioned in error,” his media office said in the statement.

“It was an accidental verbal mistake of which we all commit from time to time especially when reciting a series of large numerical figures. He did not mean N50 million, which is almost a quarter of our total population.”
