The chairmanship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the ongoing council elections in Oyo State has forced the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) to cancel chairmanship and councilorship election in Ido local government area.
Hon. Opeyemi Semiu Folarin is flying the ZLP chairmanship party ticket in Ido LGA. The News Carrier NG understands that he has large number of followers and likely to win the council poll under a free, fair and credible elections.
According to the chairman of the commission, Aare Abiola Olagunju, whose voice was played on Fresh 105.9 FM, he said the cancellation became important following the omission of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, logo.
Ido is the only council the ZLP is contesting the council election in the state.
Though the senior advocate said he took full responsibility for the error, he said he and other members of the commission would take decision to know the next move. He said the error was not deliberate as he had planned an error-free election.
Meanwhile, despite the cancellation, election is still ongoing across wards in the council area.
