Oyo State Government may be preparing for a showdown with the workers of the Polytechnic Ibadan who embarked on an industrial action yesterday.

The News Carrier NG reported that workers of the institution, on Monday 11th January 2020, started indefinite strike over the full implementation of minimum wage by the state government.

Sources within the workers unions confirmed to the News Carrier NG on Tuesday that Oyo State Government deployed personnel of Operation Burst to force open all the gates of the institution.

“As I am speaking with you, men of Operation Burst are stationed at the South and the North gates of our school. They forced the gates open in the middle of the night and seem battle-ready to engage us today. Though we do not know the instructions given to the officers by Governor Seyi Makinde, we (the workers) have been peaceful in our conduct” the source said.
