A chieftain of People’s Democratic Party chieftain in Oyo state, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan has berated the bootlicking activities of some party members towards governor Seyi Makinde in the state.
Olopoeyan made the statement while reacting to the recent senatorial ambition declaration of former Chief of staff to the state governor, Chief Bisi Lookman Ilaka which was made to public at Omituntun House, in Ibadan.
His is reaction, Olopoeyan said, most of the Oyo PDP chieftains had lost their political value as a result of their excessively obedient, servile way as a means of gaining favour from the state governor.
While criticizing Ilaka action for making his 2023 Oyo central senatorial district ambition declaration known at
Omititun House which falls within Oyo South senatorial district said, the senatorial aspirant has sold his value and sense to the course of Omotitun struggle which is meant only for governor Seyi Makinde, not PDP.
Olopoeyan who queried Ilaka action said, Ilaka had made a big mistake by declaring his fourth Oyo Central senatorial ambition within the jurisdiction of Oyo South Senatorial District, said most of Ilaka loyalists especially in Oyo and Ogbomoso will now be confused with such action.
“ I didn’t know what our people are tuning PDP into, they had forgotten that PDP is bigger than governor Seyi Makinde, everyone in the party now prefer to do all things that pleases governor Makinde not even considering the future of the party, this is not good at all.
“ Imagine, a senatorial aspirant who has his own campaign office in Oyo town, within his senatorial district, but decided to use Omititun House in Oyo South, even it will have been reasonable for him if he went ahead to use Party office at Molete.
“ Our people had turned governor Makinde to god, and now worshipping him, they preferred to pleases him than to protect the image of the party and guide by party constitution.
Ilaka has contested for this position three times 2011, 2015 and 2019, none of the time did he made his ambition declaration outside his Oyo Central district, even all those aspirants, candidates that had previously declared their ambitions for Oyo Central Senatorial District, none of them worships their leaders so much that, they moved their ambition declaration out of the senatorial district they want to contest, so as he begins his 2023 ambition now within Oyo South, that means most of his campaign activities ahead of 2023 will also be within Oyo South Senatorial District”.
