The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has described federal political appointees from the state as “insincere”, saying they are encouraging their followers to decamp yet pretending to be party stakeholders just to retain their appointments.

The communique reads:

The Youth Stakeholders’ meeting held at the instance of the Youth Leader, Prince Aremu John Oyetunji to address grievances arising from the congress and primaries of the party; tap into the experience of various youth stakeholders, and ensure the collective commitment of youths in positioning the party for victory in the 2023 general elections.

The meeting which had in attendance critical stakeholders from various zones and Local Governments after extensive deliberation resolved as follows:

 1.  That the party should as a matter of urgency recognize the sacrifices of youths who lost their bid for various positions and commit to compensate them accordingly.

 2. The meeting frowned at the persistent non-inclusion of youths in the affairs of the party, for instance, the recently constituted Reconciliatory Committee.

 3. That a youth Reconciliatory Committee with the mandate to appeal to all aggrieved young persons in the party be constituted.

 4.  All Local Government Youth Leaders are charged to show capacity and convince the public that the party is ready to take over government come 2023.

 5.  The youth wing should liaise with the party leadership for the immediate commencement of PVC drive across the state.

6.  The meeting noted the insincerity of some Abuja based/political appointees who are encouraging their followers to decamp yet pretending to be members of the party as stakeholders just to save their jobs and appointments.

 7. The youths decried the lack of coordination occasioned by the inactiveness of the Pubic Relations Officer and demands immediate redress.

 8. While reconsidering the right of some party candidates in the forthcoming elections to maintain a personal structure or campaign platform, they were urged to look into the impending crises looming between their personal structures (Vanguards) and the party structures across.

 9. Constitution of Standing Committees for Media Engagement, Mobilization, and other Critical areas.

10. The need to focus on making the party attractive to young people outside of the party. Also, a media drive for all party candidates.
