“Era of Divide and Rule in Oke-Ogun is Over; Traditional Rulers are now United for Development” – Gegun of Ayetoro

Following the passage of the bill seeking the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Oke-Ogun, the traditional rulers in the region have been commended for their unity and togetherness in the pursuance of developmental projects.

Gegun of Ayetoro Oke, Oba Najeemdeen Adelaja Tukuru II, gave the commendation while featuring on a live programme tagged Oro Eto Abo on Oke-Ogun Radio 96.3Hz.

The monarch said that the era of divide and rule among traditional rulers in the zone is now a thing of the past as they now speak with one voice in the fight for the growth and development of the region.

The monarch applauded the efforts of the Governor Seyi Makinde in the establishment of Amotekun security apparatus. He also commended Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III for his leadership roles as custodian of Yoruba culture and preservation of its heritage

Oba Adelaja reiterated that traditional rulers are saddled with the responsibility of protecting their jurisdictions and likewise are forbidden from taken steps beyond their statutory functions. He reminisced that Obas in the past had traditional means of securing their territories without the use of physical weapons.

Gegun while charging monarchs to go back to the basis of securing their domains in the protection of life and properties of the people, he admonished other traditional rulers in thd agrarian zone of Oyo State to regard Oke-Ogun Radio as their heritage that should be supported and nurtured.
