The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim has again disclaimed and reported fake Facebook accounts created in his name alongside his picture to defraud unsuspecting public as well as to malign him and other leaders of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The three-term senator, who on several occasions in the past disclaimed such fake accounts, reiterated that his verified Facebook account remains Teslim Kolawole Folarin (https://www.facebook.com/
According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Com. YSO Olaniyi, the Oyo Central Senator had reported several fake Facebook in the past and they have been deleted. “The latest fake Facebook acounts directly linked and associated with the Oyo Central senator include: Sen Teslim Folarin (https://www.facebook.com/
“Another fake associated Facebook account by profile name Oyo Central Guber Choice and Senator Folarin as profile picture was, on Monday, reported to the constituted security agencies and the Facebook. The account, which was used to malign Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi and Engr. Joseph Tegbe has been shutdown by the Facebook. Details of the persons behind the fake associated Facebook account have been submitted to the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Force Criminal Investigation & Intelligence Department (FCIID) for further investigations and appropriate sanctions”.
“Other Facebook accounts created to malign Senator Teslim Folarin and other chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have also been reported to the security agencies and the Facebook. The Facebook accounts include: Mapo Omo (https://www.facebook.com/omo.
“It is disheartening and unfortunate that despite repeated warnings and disclaimers, some fraudsters and political opponents are hell bent on criminal and damaging activities. All operators of fake accounts are warned to desist from criminal and damaging activities as security agencies have been engaged to fish out the culprits and bring them to justice accordingly.”
Senator Folarin lauds those members of the public who raised alarm about the fraudulent accounts and urges other members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected criminal and damaging activities within and outside social media to the TKF Media Centre and the constituted security agencies.
