The Ayingun Olubadan and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in the red chamber, Senator Teslim Folarin has joined the people of Ogbomoso both at home and in the diaspora to celebrate highly revered His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, Soun of Ogbomosoland on his 95th birthday anniversary.
The Ibadan chief, in a goodwill message he personally signed and made available to journalists described the Soun of Ogbomosoland as a respected first-class monarch who is not only a blessing to the ancient town of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Yoruba land but also to Nigeria at large.
The message read in part,:
“I deeply envy Baba Soun because he is a selfless leader, outstanding monarch and philanthropist of repute. Baba Soun remains an embodiment of peace and tranquility worthy of emulation”.
“As a top-class King in Nigeria, his contributions to the country’s socio-economic and political developments are enormous and worthy of commendation.
“We thank Almighty Allah for the gift of Baba Soun to Ogbomoso land, Oyo State, Yoruba land and Nigeria. The first-class monarch’s qualitative leadership, forthrightness, humility, native intelligence ability to speak truth to power always enthrone him a living legend.”
“Under Baba Soun’s reign, Ogbomoso witnesses unprecedented socio-economic developments. The generations to come will be pleased to note that Ladoke Akintola University of Technology – Ogbomoso, Federal Polytechnic – Ayede, Bowen University Teaching Hospital, creation of additional local government areas and many more were achieved under his rulership”.
“We thank Almighty Allah for the gift of Baba Soun to Ogbomoso land, Oyo State, Yoruba land and Nigeria”
The three-man Senator prayed Almighty God to grant the the first-class monarch good health and protection, while wishing him many more happy returns.
Oba Oyewumi was born on May 27, 1926 to the Gbagun ruling house of royal family of Soun of Ogbomosoland. He ascended the throne of his forefathers as the 20th Soun of Ogbomosoland in 1973.
