No fewer than 220 constituents have been nominated by Senator Teslim Folarin for Federal Government’s National Youth Volunteer Programme for hand washing and clean Nigeria campaign for Coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention in Oyo Central Senatorial District.
According to Senator Folarin’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Com. YSO Olaniyi, the beneficiaries were selected from the eleven local government areas of the district.
Recall, Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo flagged the programme in July 2020.
The statement explained that the programme, which engaged 220 youths as sanitation and hygiene ambassadors in Oyo Central for three months, will centre on the importance of safe water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) practices for COVID-19 prevention.
Folarin noted that the National Youth Volunteer Programme is one of the interventions of the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.
The nominated youths are to engage in community sensitization and awareness creation on safe water, sanitation and hygiene practices for COVID-19 prevention over a period of three months.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content while applauding President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government’s various social intervention programmes, urged the beneficiaries to delivered on the mandate of the programme, assuring that he would continue to facilitate dividends of democracy to Oyo Central Senatorial District and Oyo State at large.
The statement concluded that the beneficiaries will get stipends for a period of 3 months.
