Meeting of APC Oke-Ogun Zone 1 ended in deadlock as stakeholders failed to agree on consensus candidate for the post of State Chairman of the party.

The State Affairs NG reports leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, on Wednesday, agreed on new zoning template ahead of the nationwide state congresses of the party scheduled for Saturday, 16th October 2021.

According to the resolution of the meeting Oke-Ogun 1 is to produce State Chairman, Senatorial Youth Leader, Assistant Financial Secretary and Assistant Welfare Officer while Oke-Ogun 2 will produce State Organizing Secretary, State Legal Adviser, Deputy Youth Leader (North), Senatorial Women Leader, Deputy State Women Leader and ex Officio.

Following the resolution, stakeholders of APC Oke-Ogun 1, which comprises of Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola and Iwajowa LGAs met on Thursday in Ilero to agree on consensus candidates for positions allocated to the zone.

Inside sources revealed to the State Affairs NG that the meeting ended in deadlock as the convener of the meeting, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi declared to run for the position of state party chairman.

“All the stakeholders at the meeting were surprised when Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi declared to run for the state chairman of APC”.

“On getting to the meeting, I observed that Alhaji Abu extended invitation to members of his Unity Forum to drive home his ambition. Less than ten percent of mainstream APC were invited for the meeting. The man wants to play on our intelligence”.

“He wanted to coerce us to endorse his candidature but we vehemently opposed the agenda”.

“Alhaji Abu wanted the state chairmanship of the party desperately, the reason he pushed for zoning of the position to Oke-Ogun Zone 1 in order to kill governorship aspirations of Prof. Adeolu Akande and Hon. Isaac Ajiboye Omodewu”.

He threatened that the agenda of Unity elements in APC would not fly. He stressed that any attempt by the party leaders to force Unity Forum element as next state chairman of the party on the people of Oke-Ogun Zone 1 will be resisted.

Pandemonium greeted Alhaji Abu’s chairmanship aspiration, which lead to the Ilero-born politician to call for Nigerian Police to disperse protesting members.
