Fact has emerged as to why the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) postponed the rescheduled local government elections in Ido to May 29, 2021

The News Carrier NG witnessed how the Chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System, Alhaji Mukaila aka Auxiliary and his men numbering hundreds stormed the council area, shooting sporadically to scare electorates and officials of the OYSIEC.

Recall, members of the ruling PDP, on Saturday, insisted that the OYSIEC must declare their candidates winners, despite outright cancellation of the May 22, 2023 Saturday elections.

The News Carrier NG understands that the PDP’s stance and the Auxiliary men’s shooting sprees forced the electoral umpire to shift the elections in the council area to May 29.

Voters apathy, rigging, hoarding of voting materials, violence and other irregularities marred the Saturday local government elections across the State.

Following the alleged electoral malpractices levelled against OYSIEC and the ruling PDP, the ADP in Ogbomosho announced its withdrawal some hours before the end of the exercise on Saturday.

The News Carrier NG also reported how two persons were gruesomely killed in Ibarapa Zone during a violence that marred Saturday May 22, 2021 LG elections.

A sources told News Carrier NG that the two persons were allegedly killed by thugs mobilised by the incumbent Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and Hon. Yemi Taiwo, representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.

Another sources informed the News Carrier NG that men of Nigeria Customs Services allegedly killed one person while the other victim was killed by political thugs.
