As people of Ido local government area go to poll today, Oyo State residents have recounted their ugly experiences before, during and after the May 22, 2021 council polls conducted by Governor Seyi Makinde-appointed Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

The OYSIEC shifted the chairmanship and councilorship elections in Ido LGA earlier rescheduled for May 23, 2021.

The News Carrier NG reported how OYSIEC boss, Aare Abiola Olagunju, while speaking on Fresh 105.9 FM, announced cancellation of the election following the omission of the ZLP logo on the ballot papers.

Today’s elections in Ido LGA is between Hon. Sheriff Adeojo of the ruling PDP and Hon. Semiu Opeyemi Folarin of the ZLP. The News Carrier NG was informed that some PDP leaders, APGA, ADP and LP in the council area have declared to vote Hon. Folarin.

Meanwhile, on May 20, 2021, a Toyota Matrix car alleged to be part of Governor Makinde’s convoy killed Ogbomoso teenage girl.
Some residents of Oyo State, who spoke to our correspondent on telephone in Ogbomoso on Monday, lamented that despite the fact that the identity of that driver that killed Ogbomoso teenage has been revealed, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, cabinet members from the zone or leaders of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have neither responsibility for the unfortunate incident nor deemed it fit to pay a condolence visit to the bereaved family.
Some said that apart from the gruesome killing of the teenage girl by a Toyota Matrix car alleged to be part of Governor Makinde’s convoy, many citizens were maimed before, during and after the May 22, 2021 elections in Ogbomoso zone.

The incident happened when Governor Makinde, PDP leaders and Alhaji Mukaila Auxiliary-led squad stormed the town for PDP rally ahead of the just concluded May 22, 2021 local government elections in the state.

The News Carrier NG reported how people of Ogbomoso staged a protest at the venue of PDP rally over the killing.
In their official reactions, Governor Seyi Makinde and his Ogbomoso-born Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa claimed that the car involved was not part of the Governor’s convoy and commiserated with the bereaved family. According to them, an unregistered Toyota Matrix whose driver’s identity is not known, caused the accident.

Contrary to Governor Makinde’s and Adisa’s statements, the News Carrier NG exclusivey revealed the identity of the Toyota Matrix car driver that killed Ogbomoso teenage girl. The driver involved was Mr. Alade Nurudeen. Mr. Alade, according to a preliminary investigation conducted by the News Carrier NG and some pictures exclusively obtained, is not only a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but also an appointee of Governor Seyi Mankinde at Oyo State Motor Park Management System.

In a sharp reaction to Engr. Makinde’s official reaction to the sad incident on Twitter (@SeyiMakinde), a twitter user (@adewole817) who claimed to be the father of the killed girl disagreed with the governor.

His tweets read:

Dear Mr Governor.. please

(1) why would your security threatened us with guns from seeing you when we carried the baby to meet you?

(2) I would like to ask why you sent one of the party leader to console us that you’re coming to see us.

(3) You promised to come and meet us at the nearest hospital (IBRAHIM TAIWO HOSPITAL, OJA’GBO) where the incident occurred, but you refused to come.

(4) Those you sent to console us at the hospital locked us inside the hospital and left..

(5) We took the baby to your party chairmans and all other stakeholders immediately after you left, they all ran and left the standing..

(6) You denied the driver wasn’t among your convoys, but people witnesses he overlap among your vehicles and lost it’s control..

Six days after the horrific incident, the father of the victim came out to lament that the the governor and leaders of the ruling PDP have yet to pay a condolence visit.

The father of the killed teenager made the shocking revelation when an Ogbomoso youth group paid a condolence visit to the bereaved family.

The President of the youth group issued a 7-day ultimatum to Governor Seyi Makinde to take responsibility, visit the family and pay blood money.

Reacting the incident, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state expressed regret sadness and regret over an alleged failed attempt by Governor Seyi Makinde to cover up his culpability in the killing of a young girl by one of his supporters in Ogbomoso last Thursday.

Oyo APC, in a statement issued last Friday by its Assistant Publicity Secretary, Prince Ayobami Adejumo, said that it was a height of insensitivity and irresponsibility for Gov. Makinde to have made any attempt to deny the fact that innocent girl’s life was cut short by one of his core loyalists who drove recklessly to create fear in the mind of the people as drivers of the vehicles who form the convoy of the governor usually do.

“The whole world was made to see the video clip of a bewildered man carrying the lifeless body of a little girl who was said to have been killed by a reckless driver in the convoy of Gov. Makinde. The man took the charred remains of the slain girl to the campaign ground of the PDP and nobody could challenge him because everyone knew his claim was right.

“However, a new twist was added to the unfortunate incident when the governor took to his Twitter handle to churn out barefaced lies in attempts to mislead the public and deny the fact that he was directly or indirectly responsible. He (Makinde) claimed the girl was hit by an individual driving a Toyota Matrix car who lost control of his vehicle and he added that the killer driver was not part of his convoy.

“But in the early hours of Friday, it came to the knowledge of the general public that Gov. Makinde was economical with truth as it was discovered that one Alade Nurudeen was actually the culprit. The same man (Nurudeen Alade) was not only a card carrying member of the PDP but also one of those appointed by the governor as handlers of the Park Management System (PMS) in the state.

“It is an established fact that those given the opportunity to amass wealth from revenue derivable from all motor parks pride themselves as park managers and people in power. They move around in unregistered vehicles as they usually replace authorized number plates with stickers which carry various inscriptions announcing the power vested in their overall boss (Mukaila Lamidi also known as “Auxiliary”).

“Nurudeen Alade was carried away with power conferred on his likes by Gov. Makinde and he caused another disaster which would haunt him forever. Immediately the incident occurred, the thugs in the governor’s entourage knew the implications of what they had done and the tried to conceal the identity of their colleague who committed the murder. They removed the implicating sticker on the vehicle but later, the truth came out and this development also made the governor to delete all his previous tweets in which he had denied the obvious.

“It is on this note that we are urging all the relevant law enforcement agents to conduct detailed investigation into the matter and ensure that all the culprits, including those who had attempted to mislead the public, are brought to justice. No individual, no matter how highly placed, has the right to take the life of any other person and this particular case should not be swept under the carpet. We pray God to give the parents of the slain girl, and others who have been killed by the same blood-thirsty PDP thugs the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.” APC stated.

A statesman, son of the soil and former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala while condoling the family, described the incident as sad and unfortunate event, saying it is heart rendering seeing the father of the little carrying the lifeless body of his once upon a time go lucky, bubbly little girl in tears and anguish.

Otunba Alao-Akala, however, charged Governor Makinde to ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out on the incident and the findings be made public.

He pointed out that no matter how highly placed the person involved, such individual must be brought to book. He stressed that Governor Makinde must ensurw that justice is served accordingly to serve so as a deterrent to other reckless drivers.

The News Carrier NG noted that most social media users (Twitter and Facebook) who reacted to Engr. Makinde’s posts urged the governor to accept responsibility and not shift blame on a faceless driver.

“Accept responsibility don’t shifts blame, coz yur convoy might have caused the accident due to their overzealous behaviour while on the road”

A facebook user, Prince Abidoye Abdulfatai Oladimeji who is an Ogbomoso indigene posted: The matrix is one auxiliary guy that follow governor that vehicle even has auxiliary Olubori as plate number before they remove it

Another user Tony Mentor wrote:  One of the problems of Nigeria today is that We don’t accept or take responsibility for our mistakes, if your car accidentally hit a child, all you need to do is to say you are sorry and then dialogue with the family because accident is something that can happen to anyone at anytime. don’t go to prosecute an innocent man for your mistake. thank you sirOne of the problems of Nigeria today is that We don’t accept or take responsibility for our mistakes, if your car accidentally hit a child, all you need to do is to say you are sorry and then dialogue with the family because accident is something that can happen to anyone at anytime. don’t go to prosecute an innocent man for your mistake. thank you sirOne of the problems of Nigeria today is that We don’t accept or take responsibility for our mistakes, if your car accidentally hit a child, all you need to do is to say you are sorry and then dialogue with the family because accident is something that can happen to anyone at anytime. don’t go to prosecute an innocent man for your mistake. thank you sir.

Ebenezer Adebisi: This is pure insensitive statement coming from you sir even after your convoy inflicted such pain and agony on the family of the deceased…Please accept these as your fault and discipline your drivers so that such will never repeat itself again.

Ademola Alabede: It is time convoys of politicians and other ‘powerful’ people stop driving like lunatics and pushing other road users out of the road. It is barbaric!

The way most of them behaves, push fear into other road users, which maybe the reason the said Matrix driver loss control on steering.

Ifeanyi Nwigwe: Your Excellency, Pls find a way to settle that family for peace to reign because your convey intimidated that matrix driver that’s what I got there. And always tell your drivers to be careful pls

Pay a visit to the family to console them,if the owner of the Toyota Matrix is known, he should also visit to the family of the deceased to commiserate with them.May God continue to divinely protect you, your cabinet members and give the deceased parents the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss in Jesus name.

The statement reads below…

I am constraint to present this complaint on your WhatsApp page due to restrictions in vehicular movements and the urgency of the matter.

As I am presenting this complaint, Yemi Taiwo, the Hon. representing Ido/Federal Constituency has taken over the whole of ward 10 LANLATE with thugs snatching ballot boxes and stuffing them with already thumbprinted ballot papers in favor of PDP.

His thugs led by one aka Razato also led thugs to chase away Labour Party Agents and sympathisers from Units 1 and 2, Court Hall, LANLATE.

There is no ballot boxes at Unit 3 Ward 9, LANLATE and Ilado ward 7, LANLATE.

At ward 6, Sango, Eruwa, voting was going on smoothly until Doyin Ogundele led Lolade Bello and other thugs to cart away ballot boxes.

Similarly, thugs loyal to DEBO OGUNDOYIN have taken over ward 1, Oke Oba.

Generally, PDP thugs imported by Yemi Taiwo and DEBO OGUNDOYIN have taken over the local government shooting sporadically and thumbprinting for PDP

There is no election in lbarapa East and we call for the total cancellation of this charade.
