Family members and social media users have come out to drag Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State over an auto crash killing of a teenage girl in Ogbomoso on Thursday.

According to eyewitnesses accounts and painstaking analyses of video clips plus pictures obtained by the News Carrier NG, Governor Seyi Makinde’s convoy was indeed directly or indirectly involved in the gruesome killing of the innocent kid.

The News Carrier NG reports that Governor Seyi Makinde was at Oja Igbo in Ogbomoso to round off People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rally ahead of local government elections in the state slated for Saturday, May 22, 2021.

The News Carrier NG also reported that concerned residents and relatives of the killed girl stormed the venue of the PDP rally with her corpse to demand justice.

In their official reactions, Governor Seyi Makinde and his Ogbomoso-born Chief Press Secretary, Mr Taiwo Adisa claimed that the car involved was not part of the Governor’s convoy and commiserated with the bereaved family. According to them, an unregistered Toyota Matrix whose driver’s identity is not known, caused the accident.

In a sharp reaction to Engr. Makinde’s official reaction to the sad incident on Twitter (@SeyiMakinde), a twitter user (@adewole817) who claimed to be the father of the killed girl disagreed with the governor.

His tweets read:

Dear Mr Governor.. please

(1) why would your security threatened us with guns from seeing you when we carried the baby to meet you?

(2) I would like to ask why you sent one of the party leader to console us that you’re coming to see us.

(3) You promised to come and meet us at the nearest hospital (IBRAHIM TAIWO HOSPITAL, OJA’GBO) where the incident occurred, but you refused to come.

(4) Those you sent to console us at the hospital locked us inside the hospital and left..

(5) We took the baby to your party chairmans and all other stakeholders immediately after you left, they all ran and left the standing..

(6) You denied the driver wasn’t among your convoys, but people witnesses he overlap among your vehicles and lost it’s control..

The News Carrier NG noted that most social media users (Twitter and Facebook) who reacted to Engr. Makinde’s posts urged the governor to accept responsibility and not shift blame on a faceless driver.

“Accept responsibility don’t shifts blame, coz yur convoy might have caused the accident due to their overzealous behaviour while on the road”

A facebook user, Prince Abidoye Abdulfatai Oladimeji who is an Ogbomoso indigene posted: The matrix is one auxiliary guy that follow governor that vehicle even has auxiliary Olubori as plate number before they remove it

Another user Tony Mentor wrote:  One of the problems of Nigeria today is that We don’t accept or take responsibility for our mistakes, if your car accidentally hit a child, all you need to do is to say you are sorry and then dialogue with the family because accident is something that can happen to anyone at anytime. don’t go to prosecute an innocent man for your mistake. thank you sirOne of the problems of Nigeria today is that We don’t accept or take responsibility for our mistakes, if your car accidentally hit a child, all you need to do is to say you are sorry and then dialogue with the family because accident is something that can happen to anyone at anytime. don’t go to prosecute an innocent man for your mistake. thank you sirOne of the problems of Nigeria today is that We don’t accept or take responsibility for our mistakes, if your car accidentally hit a child, all you need to do is to say you are sorry and then dialogue with the family because accident is something that can happen to anyone at anytime. don’t go to prosecute an innocent man for your mistake. thank you sir.

Others’ Reactions:
Mustapha Garba Satomi: Since the vehicle wasn’t part of the convoy how did you know that he lost control? Go and compensate her family or her God’s will deal with you.

Mustapha Mufeed Adeola Dallax

At the first instance, what makes the father of that child took the corpse to the rally? Is that place a grave or mortuary.. The family are not on Facebook.. Go and pay a condolence visit to the family..

Ajibola Hezekiah : this what we happen when mobilize thug all around.

Oyewumi waheed Olajide: the way the driver of  that car is drive is not good, the man have drinking beer,  excellency should do something on it .

Olabisi Kayode Ajala: So sad we need to know if the driver lost control as a result of harassment and reckless driving by your security details because everyone knows how other road users are being treated by convoys of the VIPs.

Ebenezer Adebisi: This is pure insensitive statement coming from you sir even after your convoy inflicted such pain and agony on the family of the deceased…Please accept these as your fault and discipline your drivers so that such will never repeat itself again.

Ademola Alabede: It is time convoys of politicians and other ‘powerful’ people stop driving like lunatics and pushing other road users out of the road. It is barbaric!

The way most of them behaves, push fear into other road users, which maybe the reason the said Matrix driver loss control on steering.

Ifeanyi Nwigwe: Your Excellency, Pls find a way to settle that family for peace to reign because your convey intimidated that matrix driver that’s what I got there. And always tell your drivers to be careful pls

Lawrence Omolere
Pay a visit to the family to console them,if the owner of the Toyota Matrix is known, he should also visit to the family of the deceased to commiserate with them.May God continue to divinely protect you, your cabinet members and give the deceased parents the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss in Jesus name.
