Oyo LAUTECH Alumni Honour Prof. Adewale, Global President At 2021 End of Year Party [PHOTOS]

The Oyo State Chapter of the LAUTECH Alumni Association held its 2021 End of Year party cum Lecture and Award Ceremony on Boxing Day, Sunday 26th December at the Ibadan Progressive Building (IPU), Ibadan amidst pomp and pageantry.

The colourful event featured different activities, which included interactive session among members, lecture, award presentations, family interaction dancing and memorable photograph session.

The Chairman of the occasion, Chief Jide Bewaji, the BoT Chairman of the LAUTECH Alumni Association who was represented by Pastor Niyi Bewaji in his opening remarks commended the State Executive for their numerous activities and advised them not to be distracted but continue the good work of moving the state chapter forward.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chapter chairman Mr. Folaranmi Awosika assured the guests of a wonderful time as everything had been put in place to ensure a successful programme.

The programme featured a lecture titled Overcoming The Challenges of Youth Participation in Politics and Nation Building. The lecture was moderated by the LAUTECH Dean of Students Affairs and Global Secretary of the association, Prof. Azeem Ige.

Two eminent personalities were awarded at the event, which included Prof. Jacob Gbemiga Adewale, the Acting Provost of the LAUTECH College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources, Iseyin. The University don was honour with an award of Excellence in recognition of his good deeds towards the LAUTECH Alumni members of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH) Igboora, during his outstanding and purposeful tenure as the Rector of the school. OYSCATECH IGBOORA is one of the Alumni branches under the Oyo state chapter.
The other recipient of the Award of Excellence was Hon. Solomon Onilede in recognition of his outstanding performance as the Global President of the LAUTECH Alumni Association (Worldwide).

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Adewale commended the organisers of the party for a job well done and expressed his appreciation for being considered worthy for the award, stressing that the award meant so much to him and his family. He stated further that although it is natural of him to be good to people irrespective of their shortcomings, the award will further encourage him to do more. He also encouraged every LAUTECH graduate to always see reasons to be coming together in order to develop their Alma mater.

The Global President, Hon. Solomon Onilede(Limo) while thanking the Oyo state chapter of the LAUTECH Alumni for the award, enumerated the various programmes that his administration has achieved during the year which include the payment of fee for indigent students, the facilitation of the Maigida Foundation Alumni E-library, the completion of the Alumni Event Centre which will be commissioned soon. He used the opportunity to call on all the LAUTECH Alumni members in the state to support and cooperate with the Folaranmi Awosika led executive as it is the only recognized executive of the Oyo state chapter for the state chapter to continue to move forward.

In his Goodwill message, the current LAUTECH SUG President, Com. Aanuoluwapo who came with some of his executive stated that it’s always a thing of joy and encouragement for him and his people to be in the midst of the Alumni as it’s an opportunity to interact with them and in the process understand and learn more about the culture and history of the school. He thanked the Oyo state executive for the wonderful opportunity which they will continue to savour.

The General Secretary of the state, Dr. Isaac Oyewo in his vote of thanks appreciated the invited guests and all the people that came for the programme.
