Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State was elected under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Governorship election in the state. This was after a group of political gladiators in the state agreed to work together to eject the government of All Progressive Congress (APC) from the state. After the election, Governor Seyi Makinde was accused of ignoring majority of the political stalwarts who worked vehemently to ensure his victory at the poll. In this article, we will look at nine of the members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the coalition members from the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Oyo State who are not satisfied with the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde. We will look at their observations and their tendencies of dumping governor Seyi Makinde in his bid to secure victory in his second term election.

Alhaja Mulikat Akande Adeola is a prominent female politician who has been elected twice as Federal Lawmaker, House of Representatives under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Alhaja Mulikat Akande Adeola represented the Ogbomosho North, Ogbomosho South and Orire Federal Constituency between 2007 and 2015.

Alhaja Mulikat Akande Adeola remains the strongest opposition politician in Ogbomosho who worked assiduously for the victory of Governor Makinde in the 2019 Governorship election in Oyo state. Since the exit of former governor Christopher Alao Akala and Senator Buhari Abdulfatai from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaja Mulikat Akande Adeola was the major brainbox behind the votes garnered from Ogbomosho axis of Oyo State by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.

Unfortunately, Alhaja Mulikat Akande Adeola has been complaining about Governor Seyi Makinde’s refusal to pay attention to her side since he won the governorship election. Alhaja Mulikat Akande Adeola did not have any slot in the previously dissolved cabinet members of Oyo State. Rather, Governor Makinde is said to have upgraded Segun Ogunwuyi from Ogbomosho above the former majority leader of the House of Representative, Hon. Mulikat Akande Adeola.

Considering how she is being treated, Alhaja Mulikat Akande Adeola may want to withdraw her support for Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2023 Governorship election in Oyo State.

Alhaji Azeem Gbolarumi was a former Oyo State Deputy Governor and leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State. Alhaji Azeem Gbolarumi has severally complained that Governor Seyi Makinde does not have regard for the leaders of the party in Oyo State.

He observed that Governor Seyi Makinde does not create platform for the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State to interact with the governor. He regretted that the Governor is running Oyo State government without carrying the leaders of the Oyo State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) along.

Alhaji Azeem Gbolarumi may decide to work against the reelection of Governor Seyi Makinde as Governor of Oyo State in the 2023 General Election.

Engr. Femi Babalola would also complain that Governor Seyi Makinde has decided to relegated the politicians that worked for his victory in the 2019 Governorship election in Oyo State. Engr. Femi Babalola also insisted that his followers have been sidelined and ignored by Governor Seyi Makinde. Except if Governor Seyi Makinde chose to appease Engr. Femi Babalola, he may definitely work against the second term bid of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State.

Regrettably, Mogaji Nureni Akanbi is still confused on why Governor Seyi Makinde had chosen to abandon the party stalwarts who worked for his victory in the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State.

Mogaji Nureni Akanbi may need to be convinced on why Governor Seyi Makinde had filled his dissolved cabinet with those who never suffer for his victory in the 2019 Governorship election in Oyo State.

Except he could be convinced, Mogaji Nureni Akanbi may decide to work against the second term election of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State.

Former Minister of Power and Steel, Elder Wole Oyelese, may not want to work for the second term election of Governor Seyi Makinde. Except the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is able to justify why the former Minister Oyelese has been so treated like he has never worked for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 which resulted to the victory of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Whenever Elder Wole Oyelese remembers the way he is being maltreated by Governor Seyi Makinde, he would always say Governor Seyi Makinde has forgotten where they started from.

Former Oyo State Governor Alhaji Abdulrasheed Adewolu Ladoja and Barr. Sharafadeen Abiodun Ali are the prominent leaders of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). It could be recalled that Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) entered into coalition with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 Governorship election with the aim of ending the reign of All Progressive Congress (APC) government in Oyo state.

According to former governor Abdulrasheed Adewolu Ladoja and Barr. Sharafadeen Abiodun Ali, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and Governor Seyi Makinde had an agreement prior to the election.

Unfortunately, after winning the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde swept the agreement under carpet and allegedly appointed his friends into the slots meant for the coalition party members.

Former Governor Abdulrasheed Adewolu Ladoja has publicly withdrawn his support for Governor Seyi Makinde led Oyo State Government while Alhaji Sharafadeen Ali remains amazed by the way the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) members are being treated in Oyo State.

Except if Governor Seyi Makinde can win the hearts of former Oyo State Governor Alhaji Abdulraheed Adewolu Ladoja and that of Alhaji Sharafadeen Ali, it will be difficult for Governor Seyi Makinde to enjoy the supports of the members of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Oyo State and this may threaten his second term election as Oyo State governor.

Engr. Rauf Olaniyan is the incumbent Deputy Governor of Oyo State. Surprisingly, he is one of the major politicians in the state who is not feeling satisfied with the way Governor Makinde is running the affairs of Oyo state.

Engr. Rauf Olaniyan insisted that Governor Makinde is running the state without carrying him along. In fact, most of the policies and programmes of the state are strange to the deputy governor. Engr. Rauf Olaniyan would always complain that he has been treated in an unfair, unjust and the most unkind manner by Governor Seyi Makinde.

If the situation remains unaltered, he may consider picking the governorship ticket of the party in the next election and work vehemently against Governor Seyi Makinde.

Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan is a popular Ibadan born politician. He is a strong member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He has control over majority of the members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan Northeast and Ibadan Southeast Local Government Areas of Oyo State.

He was completely sidelined by Governor Seyi Makinde. He has complained severally that some of his political opponents from the camp of Governor Seyi Makinde are threatening his life.

None of the followers of Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan has been consider for any political appointment from ward level through local government area to the state level. Names of the supporters of Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan were also being removed violently from any empowerment list by some of the Federal Lawmakers from Oyo State.

Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan has openly registered his dissatisfaction with the approach being used by Governor Seyi Makinde to govern the state. Undoubtedly, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan may work against the second term bid of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State.
