Few hours after their rescue, the 334 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara – Katsina State, have met with President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday.
President Buhari while hosting the freed students in his country home – Daura, said “My dear children, don’t be discouraged with what has happened, give your attention to acquiring knowledge and developing good character, and you will be distinguished in life”.
However, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity – Mallam Garba Shehu, has apologized to Nigerians on what he termed as incorrect communication on the kidnapped students.
Mr. Garba who had on last week Friday claimed that only 10 students were kidnapped by the bandits, apologetically retracted his statement, saying the communication of numbers was provided by persons that should ideally know. According to him, the figure he provided was seen seen to have conflicted with what was available at that time.
